Hi! My name is Katie Gillen and I am a Sports Television and Digital Media professional.
I grew up in sunny South Florida and for some crazy reason I ended up accepting a job in the usually cold Northeast to work for ESPN. After close to a year shoveling snow I decided to take my talents further south to Charlotte, North Carolina, and get back to my roots covering College Sports with ESPNU. After working primarily in Sports Television I decided to shift my focus to Sports Digital and Social Media. I left the land of Pines for the land of peaches. I work for Atlanta United FC in Atlanta, Georgia Managing Social Media and Analytics for the club.
I got my start in the business while attending the University of Florida. At UF I worked for WUFT-TV, GatorVision, and SunSports. Working with those outlets allowed me to cover sporting events like the Sugar Bowl and interview athletes like Tim Tebow. I also have experience covering professional teams like the Miami Heat and Baltimore Orioles. I am most passionate about interviewing, story telling, and new media.
My passion for Sports started at a young age thanks to my parents Jim and Karen exposing me to everything from Figure Skating to Swimming. Growing up I played Tennis, Soccer, and swam competitively. When I’m not at a sporting event I love to spend time with family and my yellow Lab named Luke. If you want to know more you can connect with me on Twitter and LinkedIn.
